Getting to Boracay via Caticlan
Upon arrival at the Caticlan Airport, you need to register first. Outside Caticlan Airport there are available transportation options that will take you to the island. You can take a van or a tricycle that will take you to Caticlan jetty port. It will cost Php 50.00 per tricycle to the port. If the driver will ask more than that, learn to haggle.
If you want a hassle free transfer from the airport straight to your hotel, skipping the ticket lines at the jetty port and lines for the environmental fee window, there are those who offer these services. We were three ( 2 adults, 1 child) and they offered Php 900.00 for all three which was already a good price considering our transfer will be smooth, we could save time and we will have somebody who can help us carry our bags.
Expense breakdown if you DIY your transfer
Tricycle ride for 3pax (Php 50.00)--------------> Php 20.00 each
Terminal Fee --------------------------------------> Php 100.00 each
Environmental Fee -------------------------------> Php 70.00 each
Regular boat fare ---------------------------------> Php 30.00 each
--------------------------
Total Php 220.00 each
It only took us less than 30mins to arrive at the island of Boracay and less that an our after we are already at the beach lounging.
If you are arriving from Kalibo
You need to take 1 1/2 to 2 hours van or bus ride to Caticlan jetty port. Average price is Php 200- 250. You can see transportation options just outside the airport.
A more hassle free is to pre book your transfer online thru My Boracay Guide ,
I highly recommend this especially if you travel in a group and would want a more comfortable hassle free, VIP like transfer and if you want to experience arriving at the airport and see somebody standing outside with cardboard on hand with your name on it. *wink*
FOOD
A lot of restaurants line the beachfront and streets. From fast food like McDonald and Mang Inasal to the more expensive all u can eat buffets and steak houses. We have free breakfast from our hotel but aside from that, all other meals we try to vary. After breakfast we walked along the beach and whenever hunger strike we dine at the nearest restaurant we could find. We had this assumption that restaurants in Boracay would be a little expensive and we allot a generous amount for our budget. It turns out that food prices are a lot similar to those in Cebu restaurants. At the end of our holiday we splurge at little by dinning at a fancier place, mostly because of their all you can eat steak.
